In late December 1971 Cyclone Althea hit the North Queensland Coastline specifically crossing Magnetic Island. The island, in conjunction with A great deal with the mainland, was devastated with ninety% with the island's homes ruined or destroyed, some simply lifted off their foundations and tossed into trees. The island, together with the mainland
